The object of Emerson Club is the promotion of literary, cultural and social goals. The club meets monthly, September through April, on the third Monday of each month at the Bassett House.

Active participation in the club is encouraged. Assuming leadership positions is not mandatory, however, over a period of two to three years each member is responsible for planning a program for a monthly meeting. The program should follow the chosen theme for that year. The member may present the program herself or arrange for someone else to present a program.
